Annadanam, the sacred offering of food to those on the spiritual path, has been practiced in India for thousands of years. The devotees take the food as God's prasadam (പ്രസാദം). “Prasadam” is a Sanskrit word meaning 'sacred food'. It denotes anything, typically food, that is first offered to the deity, and then distributed to the devotees as a good sign.
The Annadanam program started more than a decade ago at this temple. Since then, it has been going on without any interruption by the grace of Lord Sri Mahavishnu. As part of this program, food is served to the devotees who visit the temple on the Saturday noon. The program has been very successful thanks to the continuous support and tremendous response from all the devotees and Mathrusamithy volunteers.
The Annadanam function, conducted every second Saturday of the month, is held in the Dining Hall from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm, and is typically attended by around 500 people. The Temple Committee appreciates all the members for their support and sponsorship of this regular event.
Devotees may sponsor one Annadanam Vazhipadu at a cost of ₹7001. More than one person may join together to sponsor one Annadanam Vazhipadu. Devotees may also contribute to the Annadanam Vazhipadu by paying ₹101 or multiple thereof to offer prasadam (പ്രസാദം) to a group of seven devotees each.
